Nimfeo - Florina: one of the ten most beautiful villages in Europe

This preserved traditional village in the region of Florina is one of the ten most beautiful villages in Europe and the winner of the Melina Mercouri International Prize for the Safeguarding and Management of Cultural Landscapes in the global competition of UNESCO.

A beech forest surrounds the village and its typical stone houses and paved streets, in which a wooden bridge connects two of the most impressive houses in it with a small picturesque square.

In recent years, the village has become an attractive destination for tourists, offering a lot of small hotels, guesthouses, taverns and cafes.

The tranquillity in the region and the winter atmosphere will make even the most strenuous visitor relax and spend an unforgettable Christmas.

Andritsena - Ilia: the starting point of a variety of holiday excursions

Surrounded by steep mountains and canyons, shady forests and wild rivers, the heroic village of Andritsena, with its long history dating back to ancient times, is today one of the most picturesque places in the Peloponnese.

The village is built in tiers on a hillside, surrounded by beautiful scenery and impresses with its architecture, magnificent houses, paved streets and fountains. At the same time, it offers all the modern tourist amenities such as traditional taverns that offer traditional local products, picturesque hotels, guesthouses and rooms for rent, as well as some nightlife.

From Andritsena you can set off to many beautiful places and villages in the area such as Karitena, Stemnitsa, Vitina, the Temple of Apollo, the Neda canyon and others.

Arachova: holidays in the "queen" of winter tourism

We cannot but mention the "queen" of winter tourism, beautiful Arachova, which is located in the shadow of Mount Parnassos. It has won the title of the "hottest" winter resort in Greece and it seems that the visits of skiing fans harmoniously mingle with the "invasion" of tourists, who do not miss the opportunity of meeting each other in the small taverns of the picturesque town.

Elati - Trikala: Christmas with lots of Christmas trees

The village is located in the southern Pindus mountain range, 32 km away from the city of Trikala and is built in tiers amid a fir forest, at an altitude of 920 m.

Elati is the starting point of many excursions along the mountain trails but it is the favourite destination of nature lovers and skiers due to its proximity to the winter resort Pertoulio.

Moreover, the village offers high-quality accommodation and unique local traditional dishes such as wild boar, pork and mushrooms. Try the local spirit "tsipouro" (a type of brandy) which is ideal for the cold winter days and buy some honey, jam and aromatic herbs.

Syrrako (Tzoumerka): unforgettable holidays in picturesque Epirus

Syrrako is located in Epirus, over the gorge of the Chroussias river and opposite Tzoumerka mountain. Syrrako is declared a traditional village as it has preserved the traditional architecture of Epirus with stone houses with slate roofs.

Along with neighbouring Kalarites, it is the only village that has preserved this architecture in the southern part of Ioannina. Motor vehicles are not allowed to enter the village due to which it has preserved its traditional colour. In the square with the two huge plane trees, you can find "St. Nikolaos" church and the incredible covered stone fountain "Goura" near it.
