Half Note Jazz Club opens its doors on October 12 for a unique musical season at the famous club and click @ Life presents its programme up until the New Year.

On October 12, jazz and world music come together at Half Note, offering once again a high quality, rich cultural programme.

Entertainment will reach a peak with the participation of music bands from around the world with interesting musical nuances and musical collaborators, and of course, the best that the modern global music scene has to offer.

This year, every week from Wednesday to Sunday, favourite artists will appear on the Half Note stage, to present world jazz, blues, funk, flamenco and ethnic music.

The programme begins with Gizelle Smith (12-16/10), the golden girl of funk. This is the nickname, that Gizelle Smith deservedly earned, shortly after her appearance on the London funk scene three years ago as a singer of the The Mighty Mocambos. With a strong and expressive, passionate voice Gizelle delivers pure emotion to us.

The programme continues with Leonor Leal Y Grupo (19-23/10) and her passionate Flamenco. Leonor Leal is one of the greatest dancers of Flamenco and Andalusian dance tradition as a whole. Critics extolled her in January because of her particular style, but also because of her immediacy on stage.

Songwriter, guitarist, drummer and percussionist Vinicius Cantuaria hits the Half Note stage on 26-30/10, rounding off the first autumn month at the famous jazz club. With his music, which covers the entire range of Brazilian rhythms with the distinctive sound of his guitar and his striking poems, Vinicius Cantuaria is certainly one of the greatest contemporary musicians.

Following this are authentic jazz nights (02-06/11) with drummer Billy Hart and Craig Handy, David Weiss and George Cables, who are expected to give the audience some unique jazz moments.

Greeks Manos Ahalinotopoulos and Makis Ablianitis meet on stage with Haig Yadjian (09-13/11) and are expected to conquer audiences with their ethnic pieces from Armenia and Greece.

One of the main representatives of the Chicago Blues, Jody Williams, with his unique style will be in Greece at Half Note on 23-27/11 with his authentic blues from Chicago and from the 50s and 60s.

Vassilis Lekas participates this year in Half Note’s programme with an electronic musical journey (30/11-04/12) and one of the most accomplished jazz trombonists worldwide, Steve Turre, is coming with his quintet and Andromeda Turre (14-18 / 12), who is up for a Grammy and has toured worldwide, getting outstanding reviews.

An explosive jump and swing rhythm 'n' blues programme awaits Half Note friends on 19-27/12 with Steve Lucky & The Rhumba Bums. This fantastic group was founded in San Francisco by pianist / singer Steve Lucky and singer / guitarist Carmen Getit. Together with their unique chemistry and humour, but also with their performing data, they revive a variety of musical styles from the 40s and 50s.
