How to get rid of unnecessary weight in 2014

The holidays are (almost) over. Together with them, all our excellently grounded excuses which we had before indulging in any kind of food, sweet or salty, have disappeared.

Here are 14 tips on how to get rid of the accumulated weight after the holidays.

1. You are not hungry, you are thirsty. That should be your motto for the New Year. If you think that your body really wants water, and not food, then you will see that this is true.

2. Think about what you add to your food, and not about what you take out. Removing French fries and soft drinks from your daily menu is nothing compared to endless snacks with fruit, vegetables, nuts and other things. It's all about perception.

3. Find the reasons for your hunger. If you eat in order to solve other problems (fatigue, anxiety, boredom, etc.), you need to change your way of thinking.

4. Select your food. A full meal should prevent you from partaking in extra snacks when you sit on the couch in order to relax or watch a movie.

5. Enjoy your favourite food. Eating healthily does not mean tasteless dishes, but a selection of appropriate portions. This tactic will allow you to enjoy your favourite food without restrictions.

6. It is better to eat "forbidden" food outside the house. A walk for an ice cream is the perfect reason to go out.

7. Eat frequently, experts say and they are right. Small and frequent meals throughout the day keep you satiated and maintain your metabolism.

8. In the beginning were ... proteins. They are more satiating compared to carbohydrates and fats and can become your secret weapon in the fight against weight.

9. Spices create a sense of fullness and it is good to add them to all dishes.

10. Leave ... forbidden foods on supermarket shelves and put small healthy snacks on your shelves. In this way there will be no temptations in your home.

11. Children's portions when eating with friends at a restaurant will allow you to continue your social life while on a diet without being loaded with calories.

12. Seasonal fruit and vegetables have tastes and flavours which will satisfy even the most discerning palate.

13. Replace a portion of pasta with a bowl of vegetables of your preference and you will soon ... be able to put your favourite skinny jeans on.

14. When you feel that fear or everyday life is pressuring you, try to apply a tactic other than food: yoga, walking, some music or a conversation with friends will comfort you and eliminate the stress without unnecessary calories.
