The Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEB) has published a list of 87 professions for which it is believed that there will be increased demand on the labour market in 2020. It represents "the diagnostic mechanism for professions and skills needed by companies" which was created with funding under the ESPA programme. The President of the Institute of Industrial and Vocational Education of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises noted that modern Greek companies are currently seeking employees with broader professional competencies and abilities. However, the current education system does not provide such candidates. The new production indicator in today's economy is knowledge combined with avant-garde lifelong education and training.
The event emphasised that dynamic changes in the labour market require timely and accurate information about the development of competencies needed by companies. It was noted that, despite funds spent in recent years in Greece, today, there is no single mechanism which represents the needs of specialised knowledge and competence of staff.
