Israel reports a sharp improvement in relations with Greece

The statement of the international relations expert and military analyst Athanasios Drougos was particularly interesting.

He said that wars were taking place in a different way than in the past, "for example, through a combination of airstrikes and mercenaries, as in Libya." He said international terrorism has also changed. "Al Qaeda is not the strong organization which we knew in 2000. However, it has branches in North Africa, Iraq, Syria and other countries. It is alarming today that part of the Syrian opposition has links with Al Qaeda. Among the 17,000 members of the "Liberation Army of Syria," there are about 700 to 800 jihadists and most of them are mercenaries in Libya."

According to the analyst, the USA has provoked the Arab Spring and Arab countries are involved in its support by generously financing the rebels. "The first one among these is the Emir of Qatar."
Drougos forecasted that Bashar al-Assad would cede power after about 6-8 months. "He has proved tougher than the rest. If he decides to stay in Syria, however, he will suffer the fate of Hussein and Gaddafi in the present chaos."

He noted that Turkey's role is dangerous to the attempts for stabilizing the situation in the region. "Russia's will to protect the Assad regime will largely determine the events. But I'm not sure that Russia will be defending Syria and Iran until the last moment in the Security Council. "
As for Iran, his opinion was that such regimes do not fall through the imposition of international sanctions.

"The key question about the developments in the triangle Greece - Cyprus – Israel is: will Israel support us in a difficult moment or will it protect only its deposits? Do the agreements signed with Israel protect the Greek national interests? It is because if things are reduced to just giving, they are not needed. We agree to help Israel but at the same time, we will try not to break our relations with the Arab countries."
