This is It, the thriller movie, the last documentary portrait of the King of Pop Michael Jackson is opening in theaters. The premiere of the movie is in 75 countries, among which is also Greece. The movie here will be screened for two weeks in all cinemas – STER CINEMAS, VILLAGE CINEMAS, CINEMAX and ODEON. Throughout the country there are 20 000 pre sold tickets and sales are still going on. The movie shows the world behind stage, rehearsals and the preparation of Jacko’s last tour, which could not see the world because of his sudden death. Fans from all over the world were expecting for weeks to meet their idol for the last time on the big screen.
In Athens on Wednesday is calm and there not many people in front of the box offices. Maybe one reason is because the premiere is at the same day as it is the National holiday in Greece, which is a non-working day. In STER CINEMAS box office there is a young girl…smiling and happy. She told me that almost all screenings until Sunday have been sold out – “the interest is big, people buy four tickets at a time”. She could not pay more attention to me because a line formed after me of people wanting to buy tickets for the night screening.
“There is no age limit for Michael Jackson’s fans. Students in primary school and elderly come here to buy tickets. They are all excited about the premiere and as it seems we will be SOLD OUT during the upcoming week!,” told me on the phone Irini Korakovouni – STER CINEMAS information center director in Saint Elefterios neighborhood.
So if you still have not bought a ticket for This is It, run to the box offices, so that you won’t miss the event. If on the other hand you have tickets already, then - have fun! Now I’m leaving you, because I need to go to the premiere…
