For the fourth month the Greek society is shocked and living through the tragedy of Konstantina Kouneva – the Bulgarian, who on December 23^rd was splashed with acid in front of her home and since then she is suffering severe external and internal burns and is in the Athens hospital “Evangelizmos.” In order to show their empathy, Greek political organizations and trade-unions keep organizing protest processions, demonstrations, and concerts.

The Bulgarian inspired the Greek writer from Jewish origin Michel Fais, who wrote the theatrical monologue “Yellow dog” – the story of one Bulgarian, Rouska Rouseva as the main character is called, who comes to Greece in search of a better life. The director of the monodrama is Lily Meleme and the role is played by the Greek actress Alexia Kaltziki. The premiere will be on May 10^th in the Athenian theatre “Apo Mihanis.” The production will be played until June 2^nd, every Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. Regular tickets cost ?20 and student - ?14. The Greek publishing house “Pataki” will publish the text of the monologue separately.

The author Michel Fais warns that his work will not show Konstantina Kouneva. We will se Rouska Rouseva, who is the ideal copy of Konstantina. “Rouska is a distant relative of Antigone, because she loves passionately. She is also a distant relative of Scheherazade, because she is passionate about stories with no end. Finally, she is a distant relative of Joan of Arc, because she passionately follows her inner voice,” tells the writer. He admits that he has never met Konstantina or her mother. His ambition is for the written word and the theatrical stage to relief the big life drama of the Bulgarian. 

“Yellow dog” does not blindly follow Konstantina Kouneva’s story. The title was not chosen by accident. The yellow is the color of the acid, with which Konstantina was splashed. Though, on stage, the killing acid turns into the acid of love, which eats out the sediment of memory and everyday living. The author Michel Fais was born in Komotini and his works have been translated in French, English, Czech, and Bulgarian. In 200 he was awarded with the National Literature Prize in Greece.
