Lessons in ancient and modern technology, games, music and gastronomy at the Acropolis Museum

Free admission and interesting activities await visitors to the Acropolis Museum on 25 March - the day of the national holiday of Greece.

From 9 am to 5 pm, you can listen to music dedicated to love, attend special seminars on the colours of ancient sculptures, take part in family games or visit the restaurant to taste "traditional Greek dishes".

Ancient technology lesson

The museum restorers will paint a rider’s sandal in the presence of the visitors. Sandals are one of the three types of shoes, which can be distinguished on the feet of standing ancient sculptures. Their straps are usually embossed or painted.

Тhe lesson will begin at 11 am.

Meeting point: The information desk. The order of visitors’ arrival will be observed.

Modern technology lesson

Recently, the restorers completed the cleaning procedures of the second caryatids. These are the female figures that "held" in the form of pillars the Erectheion temple on the Acropolis. Visitors will have the opportunity to talk with the restorers about the cleaning method of the caryatids with the use of a laser.

The lesson will begin at 12 pm.

Meeting point: The figures of caryatids on the 1st floor of the museum.

"Love in Greek song from the 20th century"

A concert of songs by many of the most prominent representatives of Greek song during the last century - Marcos Vamvakaris, Manolis Hiotis, Joseph Ritsiardis, George Mitsakis and Apostolos Kaldaras - will take place at the museum. Lambrini Gioti and George Tsibouxis, who will play the piano and bouzouki, will perform the songs.

The concert will begin at 12:30 pm.

Meeting point: the Parthenon hall on the 3rd floor of the museum.

Presentation of "ancient colours"

The archaeologists - restorers will present before the visitors research on the unique collection of ancient sculptures, which have partially preserved their colours and will discuss with the visitors the importance and perception of colours in antiquity.

Games for the whole family

The Acropolis Museum invites parents and their children to get to know the collections that are exposed through thematic games. The visitors can borrow them for a few hours from the information desk or buy them from the museum shop.

The restaurant, which operates on the second floor, will welcome the visitors with a "traditional Greek dish".
