The football team of Liverpool nominated Sotiris Kyriakos for best player for the month of October. In voting that took place on the team’s web page, the Greek defense player won 61 percent of the votes. Last month, Kyriakos or "Soto" as they call him did very well, helping his team to hit the "right track". He had five appearances and 1 goal scored during the game against Blackburn. The success is really great since the Greek managed to overtake in the chart Reina and Gerrard who won 13% and 8% respectively.
The defense player received the award from the hands of Roy Hodgson, who said: "I think he deserves this award. He scored an important goal and was the main figure in the team. He was very good. He were some very good games and should be very happy with his performance so far... There were other players who also performed well, but I think that "Soto" is one of those players to whom we do not always clap. Gerrard, Torres and Reina received constant praise and I think it is good to give awards to other players who deserve it".
After receiving the award for best player in the reds for the month of October, Kyriakos received praise by the Slovak Martin Skrtel. The central defense player said at the official Liverpool website: "He's a great player and shows he can score many goals. He is great in the arranged positions. I think he is currently the best player in the Premier League in a game of high... I am trying to imitate his movements in the air. However it is never easy, the situation is fraught with danger. I'm trying to develop myself in this direction and learn from "Soto".
Kyriakos became the first Greek player to put the jersey of Liverpool. The transfer to the Reds last August was his largest step, and the price for him was 2 million pounds. The numerous errors that the defense player made, however, made many people doubt that the Greek will have success.
The new coming player made a huge effort to win the confidence of Rafa Benitez, but for a long time he failed to convince the British media. The Goal.com page had published even a chart of the 10 worst transfers made during the 2009-2010 season in the Premier League. In it after the first places of Alberto Aquilani, Santa Cruz and Minto, Sotis took the sixth place.
