Love affair and rumours of pregnancy stir the Greek political scene

The hot news came straight from the inside of the highest echelons of Greek politics less than a day ago but provoked hundreds of comments. According to a publication in the electronic edition vimaonline.gr, which refers to reliable political sources, one of the most prominent opposition deputies is pregnant. Not by anyone, but by one of the most prominent ministers who has focused media attention on himself in recent days.

The attractive blonde-haired deputy with a beautiful smile also attracts the photographic lenses, not only with her appearance, but with her relationship with a known media favourite lawyer a year ago.

Their relationship was born behind the parliamentary desks and now, the charming deputy, who makes many colleagues sigh after her, is already enjoying the thrills of the first pregnancy.

Minutes after the short text appeared in vimaonline.gr, social media in Greece were literally on fire with fierce discussion on who the main characters of the new romance are. So far, none of the Greek media has published their names, but the way they are described leaves no doubt about their identity.

It has turned out that most of the Greek users of Facebook are not particularly surprised by the news.

It seems that some have been following the development of their relationship for a long time. An article on the information page of newsbomb.gr mentions that in April 2011, the two politicians were enjoying their drinks in a piano bar in the hometown of the blonde-haired deputy. "What are the minister and the beautiful deputy from Thessaloniki discussing? Could it be the state of Greek hospitals?" commented the edition caustically. More recently, in an interview with a Sunday edition, the deputy said that the birth of a child would change her life completely.

Associating the news with the dramatic situation of Greece, some jokers have even suggested that the fruit of the love of the two politicians should bear the name Sotiria - Dimokratia, i.e. Saviour - Democracy.

"The naughty minister had expressed the desire to be elected leader of PASOK and even claimed to be the favourite in the race. The pregnancy of the deputy explains the sudden change in the pre-election marathon of the Socialists made a few days ago. For those who have been following the development, things are clear, and the minister has backed out. The riddle is easy and the answer is before you," says the website Fimes (i.e. rumours).

Tip: Two days ago, GRReporter gave information about the withdrawal of one of the contenders for leadership of the Socialist Party. The deputy is one of the  two very charming women sent by Thesaloniki citizens into parliament to the delight of admirers of female beauty.

History shows that love does not comply with party affiliation and connects people from different political spaces. What troubled the Greek audience is the fact that the minister is married and he is the father of three children.

However, this is not the first love scandal in PASOK. Several years ago, today's Minister of Development and wooer of the highest party post Michalis Chrysochoidis was also named a participant in a "pink affair" with a young Liberal deputy of PASOK. After a while, he divorced his third wife in a row and now, Mary Matsouka is his fourth wife, who has given him his fourth child.
