The majority of the signals received from the National Commission for Combating Trafficking in Human Beings come from Greece

     Over the past year, Bulgaria has "retreated" from the positive developments in the fight against human trafficking, as the number of identified women, victims of human trafficking, exceeded 570 in 2012 and fell to 428 in 2013. Yet the country needs to exert efforts to combat human trafficking, as its legislation is not yet fully synchronised with the European directives on this issue and sometimes this hampers the coordination between the European Union Member States.
