Example 1. Microsoft has currently more profit from patents that the manufacturers of smartphones with Android operating system are paying them than from their own mobile operating system - Windows Phone.
Example 2. Apple will pay Nokia an amount of money for each device sold, which is using technology patented by Nokia
Example 3. The U.S. court found it to be a violation of 2 of Apple's patents by HTC - the big Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer.
Generally, every major player sues for patents almost every other big player on the market today. Analysts believe that if in some cases, as it is with Apple against HTC, Apple wins, this would be detrimental to Android, which is mainly attacked, and in favor of Microsoft, which are currently the only alternative to OEM manufacturers such as Samsung, HTC, Sony Ericsson and others.
Finally I will finish with a rumor that claimed that Microsoft may buy Nokia, which have poor financial results, but switched to using Windows Phone for their high class of smartphones. Whether this is so amazing, only the future will tell. But the fact is that one of the leaders on the market within only a few years lost its leadership position and fell into a deep crisis - Nokia.
The economic war of ecosystems is in full swing. We are still about to witness new moves and big battles between the players. Two of the major players are emerging to be Apple and Microsoft, offering a wide range of products fighting for the attention and money of the consumers. Who will win? For us users it is best that no one wins because the competition is only in our favor. The more players there are on the market, the more products they offer, the greater quality and lower prices we can expect. Then we can say that the consumer wins.
