A lot happened during the past 2009 in the teams of Olympiakos, Panathinaikos and AEK. Last year was most successful for the team of Olympiakos. A statement of gratification was posted on the official website by their coach Ziko referring to all the achievements during 2009. A good 58% of success was marked in 2009. Despite the loss to Aris that moved the team to second place Ziko hopes that 2010 is just a successful.
In 2009 Olympiakos played 53 games with 31 wins. 18 games were played in Greece, 11 of which the team won making Ziko proud of the team’s image and home play. Interestingly, the team hasn’t lost a game on Karaiskaki Stadium under Ziko’s coaching.
Last year was crucial for Panathinaikos. 2009 was the year of radical changes to repair the team’s image and symbolically enough at the end of the year the team parted ways with their coach marking the beginning of a new era. 2010 is full of expectations and new hopes for Panathinaikos with their new coach Nikos Nioplias and deputy Krzysztof Warzycha, Poland.
Not that enthusiastic entering 2010 is the AEK team. During 2009 it saw some tough times and solutions didn’t seem to be found. Even Haraambos Kozonis, the businessman who offered his help to the team, could not break the vicious circle since a satisfactory agreement was never reached. The piled-up debts (reaching close to €5700000), the team’s field condition and the president resignation paint a good picture of the crisis surrounding AEK. The New Year sees Nikos Notias preparing the team’s “survival plan,” to be presented on January 20, 2010, and quite unlikely to include Dusan Bajevic‘s name.
