Despite the ongoing strike of the employees of the Greek national electricity company the electricity supply in the country is normal on Friday and no power cuts are expected, as announced by the Greek electricity company. Both yesterday and today 13 plants were closed down due to the strike of their employees. Electricity consumption has declined in comparison with yesterday, perhaps because of the strong winds that are lowering the temperature, making it unnecessary to switch on air conditioning at all costs.
The company warns that if electricity consumption increases it will have to resort to power cuts in order for the national electricity distribution system to not collapse.
Hourly power cuts however seem inevitable in the evening when the supply of the photovoltaic systems stops.
Meanwhile, the Greek parliamentary commission for trade and production approved in the first reading the bill on the partial privatization of the Greek national electricity company and it is now considering it in the second reading.
Any moment the court will announce its decision on the legitimacy of the strike of the Greek power engineers.
