Farmers from Northern Greece freed both lanes of the border line Kulata-Promahontas as a sign of good will because many visitors will pass through during the weekend and also because of the game with the local team “Panseraikos.” From the Bulgarian side there was a long line of cars. Angry outbursts from the drivers were not missing. Tomorrow there will only be symbolic blocking but from Monday the farmers will come out on the streets again.
They claim that their incomes have gone down 50% and the value of their production is increasing. There are over 500 tractors at Promahontas ready to block the road if this is the decision of the farmers. Another 100 tractors are around Thessaloniki, which will start blocking the Thessaloniki-Veriya highway for few hours from Monday.
Today, for an hour the Thesalia farmers used their bodies and not cars ot tractors to block the Athens-Thessaloniki highway at the Tempi passage. They are protesting against the anti-agrarian policy of the European Union and of the Greek government.
