Minister of Agricultural Development Sotiris Hadzigakis and representatives of the striking farmers, from Thesalia in Northern Greece, will meet today at 03:00 pm. The Greek commission of the strikers had to meet him too today at 05:30 pm but it was postponed for tomorrow due to the farmer’s request. The commission does not include farmers from Promahon, Tembi, and Nikea.

Despite the warning from the Minister of Justice Nikos Dendias that the protesters cannot interfere with the rights of all citizens, the farmers increased the number of blockades and tightened the hoop all over the country. The main Athens-Thessaloniki highway is still closed and the tractors are blocking 5 key intersections on it. As a sign of good will the farmers opened the old Athens-Thessaloniki highway, on which the traffic is severe and is mainly caused by trucks.

In Northern Greece the blockades on the border stations continue and today: with Bulgaria – Kulata-Promahon, Ilinden-Exoni and Doyran and with Turkey – Kipi-Ipsala. In Thessaloniki, the tractors are periodically blocking the international airport “Macedonia,” without blocking it completely.
