The Olympic Champion Hrisopigi Devetzi is looking for a new coach after her old mentor Tanosis Surdis will stop training her due to serious family problems – something, which Pigi had to accept. The champion is already negotiating with Dimitris Vasilikos – trainer of Luis Tzatouma – who will most likely start preparing her for the spring and summer seasons. For now, the Beijing bronze medalist is training alone by following a program given to her by Surdis. It is certain that she needs a trainer, who needs to be next to her every day during her training.

The champion has not announced her final decision yet but it is expected by the end of the week. She wants to take the best decision, which is probably to continue with Vasilikos, until the man who helped her reach her success comes back.

Pigi is believed to be the best long jump athlete in Greece because the forth world best score of 15.32 meters belongs to her. She achieved this at the semi-finals in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. In the final she jumped 15.25 meters – a jump, which managed to get a silver medal. At the Olympic Games in Beijing she jumped 15.23 meters and took the third place and a bronze medal.
