Konstantina Kouneva refused to start a political flirt and to run for a member of the European Parliament in the upcoming elections in June. In a personally handwritten letter by her and signed “Kotze – Konstantina Kouneva” and published in Ta Nea newspaper, she says: “I’m announcing that I will not run for a member of the European Parliament or for any other Party. I love you and I am thanking you for everything. Keep going!”

In the last few days at least two Greek Parties – PASOK and the Coalition of the Radical Leftists officially announced their desire to include Konstantina Kouneva in their lists with candidates for members of the European Parliament. The chairmen of both Parties Geogios Papandreou and Alexis Tzipras visited the Evalgelismos hospital, right after the accident and talked to her doctors. Yesterday PASOK came out with an offer for Konstantina Kouneva to become an honorable Greek citizen.

The cleaners and housemaid’s union also came out with a declaration regarding the invitations for Kouneva to become a member of the European Parliament. “The secretary of our union is neither a subject of teary stories nor of political manipulation from either Party. She was never part of any political parties, not now and not even before. She is informed about everything but she doesn’t want to take part in any political Party,” says the declaration. At the end, the syndicate finishes with an appeal to the political Parties: “Do not shoot at Kouneva…not even with offers!”
