Dr. Linda Papadopoulos was born in Canada but her parents come from Cyprus. Her career reached heights when she launches her website “5 minute therapy with Dr. Linda.” Right now the address is http://drlinda.live.subhub.com, where she gives advices and presents her books, most of which talk about relationships between men and women.
Dr. Papadopoulos graduated from Metropolitan University in London and is a representative of the Cognitive Behavioral Therapy method, which differentiates itself from psychoanalysis by giving simple but essential and applicable advices. According to Linda the secret of better life lies in keeping away from bad thoughts.
Despite the fact that she works in England, Linda Papadopoulos says that she likes Athens and the idea to come and live here in the future intrigues her. She adds that her Greek origin helped her get into the heart of relationship problems: “In Greece we give out our emotions. We are not afraid to shout or to cry. People in England have a problem expressing their feelings… If one does not think about who he is and how he lives, then he lives like a zombie.”
To the question how couples around the world differ from the ones in Greece, Dr. Papadopoulos says that: “Sometimes the influence of the family acts as a boomerang. I believe that the big difference lies in the fact that Greek couples let their families influence them. For example, English children leave their houses at an early age but Greeks have a stronger family connection. The result is that no personal spaces and borders are created – parents interfere and children copy the example given by the parents. This is the big difference, which differentiates Greece from other countries.”
