After a long period of stagnation, the Greek cinema attacked the festivals. For many years, the only films, which participated on festivals, were the ones of Theo Angelopoulos. After the participation of “History 52” by Alexis Alexiou, “Arrow” by Panos Koutras on the Festival in Rotterdam and Berlin, and the success of the 2007 film "Correction" by Thanos Anastopoulos, now is time for two other films to take part in the Cannes Festival.

“Ineptitude, the unattainable and to what extent are the limitations of the human brain are the questions, which intrigue me in “Dogtooth”,” says for “Ta Nea” newspaper Giorgos Lanthimos – director of the film.” The extreme expressions of the characters come from the history of the film,” adds the 36 year old director proudly that his second film is included in the program of the Cannes Festival.

Characters in the film are two parents and their three children, who live in a house outside of the city. There is a high fence around the house and the children, who have never went outside, grow up, have fun, play sports and get bored without receiving any external stimuli, “to such an extent that they start to believe that airplanes, which fly over their house are toys and zombies are small flowers!” The oppressive parents do not let their children go outside of the yard and raise them according to their own experimental method, so the children can become people with faultless characters. The parents even change the meaning of words…
