The Greek parliament did not manage to get the majority vote, in order to deliver a member of the managing majority to the court. The member is investigated from the parliamentary commission for corruption. Only 146 parliament members from a total of 300 supported the suggestion to give out Aristotelis Pavlidis to the Greek court. The man is accused that he had taken a bribe from a ship magnate, so the man can send his ferries on destinations in the Aegean Sea. 150 votes were needed in order to be able to give out Pavlidis to the Greek court and to be able to withdraw his immunity. Pavlidis himself did not have the right to vote and during the plenary session, the parliament member of the Left Coalition Mihalis Papayanakis was missing.

During the counting of the votes were found five white bulletins and three abstained. It is believed that two of the white bulletins or the abstained are of the opposition and the rest 6 are of parliament members from New Democracy. None of the majority votes had accepted Pavlidis’ withdraw of immunity. This result is different from the one for the creation of a parliamentary commission, which is supposed to deal with the case. Back then, its creation was supported by 215 parliament members and only 67 were against it.

Aristotelis Pavlidis, former Minister of the Commercial Fleet was entertaining the media for weeks, after the accusation of the ship owner that he has paid a huge sum of money, in order to be able use his ferries in different destinations in the Aegean Sea. The commission checked all bank transactions and real estate purchases of Pavlidis and his daughter and brother and after the report, the vote took place last night.
