Summer is coming and together with it started also the festivals – new ideas, music, performances, films, bands from Greece and abroad.

For five days from today, Athens will dance in jazz rhythm, because tonight starts the ninth European Jazz Festival, which will take place in Technopolis and will continue until May 31st. For five days the stage will host 14 bands from 14 countries. Except for Greek jazz bands, participating countries will be Denmark, Belgium, Austria, Finland, Holland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Luxemburg, Italy, Estonia, Spain and Hungary.

During the five-day festival there will be three concerts per day and the entrance will be free for all visitors. The concerts will start at 09:00pm and will continue until midnight and just like any other year, the Big Band of the Athenian city-hall will open the festival.

Meanwhile, the exhibition halls of Technopolis will host “Jazz” paintings by the artist Alek Tournikioti. All of her works are connected and inspired by jazz music and they manage to recreate the atmosphere of the era they represent. The big oil paintings are dedicated to this music style, which continues to charm and attract people.

Based on research done last year by the organizers, the number of people, who visited this huge event reached 40 000.
