The infected is a 23 year old Greek, who has returned from New York on May 28th with a severe cough and fever. She received an informational brochure when she arrived at the Athenian airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” and right away, at 04:00pm she called the Center against swine flu. There, she was advised to go to a local hospital.
During her check-up she was tested and given medication. Today, her results came out and they prove that the young Greek is infected with the H1N1 virus. She is about to be admitted in the Athenian hospital “Sotiria.” Until now, the girl is treated in accordance to all instructions of the World Health Organization and of the European Union.
This is the forth confirmed case of swine flu in Greece. Right now, the two students from Edinburgh are being treated in hospitals in Athens and Thessaloniki. Both of them are recovering and during the upcoming days they will be released. The first student, who was infected with the virus in Greece, was released from the hospital earlier during the week.
