Read the following questions very carefully:
- Would you abandon you mother for one million Euros?
- Would you like to have a different father?
- Have you ever thought your mother ruined your life?
- Have you had sex in your parents’ bed?
- Would you sleep with someone is he/she will make you a celebrity?
- Have you had sex with your best friend’s girlfriend/boyfriend?
If you are ready to answer to such questions publicly and win few thousand Euros, you have just missed your chance, because the Electronic Media Council took off the air the reality show “Hour of Truth,” which was airing on the Antenna TV channel. The motif for cancelling the show is the low quality of the production and the decision was taken by all board members except for two, who were technically against the ability of the council to take programs off the air.
The TV game has been outraging viewers and experts with its banality, obscenity, and the impudent behavior of the hostess Evgenia Manolidou, who for those who didn’t know, came out to be the wife of a parliament member of the conservative party LOAS. For many months the hard-bitten Greek viewer, who is used to any type of reality shows and TV junk, used to goggle his eyes, open his mouth and stare at the reality show aired during prime time. He had to witness not only questions like “Have you even worn women’s underwear?” and “Have you had sex on the back seat of a car while someone else is driving?” but also the even more frightening detailed answers of the heroes of our time, who want only their 15 minutes of fame.
But the hour of the truth came even for this program and as we know sometimes truth can hurt. For the TV channel Antenna this truth came out to be expensive as well. After being fined with ?200 000 for the low quality of the “Hour of Truth,” the channel was forced to take it off the air.
