The visitors of the website will be able to take a virtual tour of the exhibition halls, to learn the history of the museum and to learn about the cultural heritage of Greece from ancient times until today.
The website has six main categories – museum open hours, the collections and their histories, educational programs, museum history, ticket prices, contact phone numbers for inquiries about everything else a person might need but cannot find on the site.
This is the first website of a Greek museum, which offers e-ticketing. This service allows you to buy a ticket from anywhere in the world and to choose the day and even the hour of your visit.
This allows a better coordination of the visiting hours, which will reduce the waiting lines. During the first three days after the official opening of the museum – Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday (June 21, 22 and 23), the visitors will be able to buy tickets only online because the box offices will be closed.
Except that they will have to buy their tickets online, all visitors will have to decide during which of the three set hours to visit the museum. During the first three days, at most 250 people will be able to take look at the collections in groups, which will enter at 09:00AM, 11:00Am and 06:00PM and will be guided by the director of the museum Prof. Dimitris Pandermalis and a team of archeologists.
Present at the official opening of the new Acropolis Museum will be only guests with invitations but all those who wouldn’t want to miss it, will be able to tune online (www.theacropolismuseum.gr) and see the opening on June 20th.
