34 year old ambulance driver infected his brother and his 2 year old nephew with the swine flu virus, after which he found out he is infected himself. Because of him, the “Shishmanoglio” hospital, where the driver is working and swine flu infected cases are treated, was put under quarantine.
Most likely the man got infected in the ER, where he works and where the virus A/H1N1 cases are treated. During the last few days the young man had headaches, sore throat and a mild fever. He mentioned it to the doctors, who advised him to go and get checked but the man did not pay attention to his serious condition.
Few days ago his young nephew was taken to a children’s hospital with flu symptoms. When the doctors asked whether the child was in contact with a carrier of swine flu, it became evident that the child was in touch with his uncle, who works in “Shishmanoglio” hospital.
When the doctors heard that, they understood that the uncle is a carrier of the virus and he passed it on to the father and the child. The National Health Center announced that what happened is normal but for now, the hospital will stop admitting flu cases and it will refer them to “Amalia Fleming” hospital.
A team of experts from the Center of control and prevention of diseases arrived at “Shishmanoglio” hospital. They determined that 20 employees, who were in contact with the 34 year old man, have mild symptoms but after some tests it was clear that the virus is not H1N1. Despite this all nurses and doctors who are showing any symptoms of flu should stay at home, because the risk is high, said the Ministry of Health.
Until now, completely cured are 42 swine flu patients and another 67 and still being treated.
