The rock-dinosaur Carlos Santana, the musician, who gave a Latin rhythm to rock music, one of the few left rock legends together with Rolling Stones and Sir Paul McCartney, came out on stage last night, in order to offer an unforgettable concert to his Athenian fans, who had filled the Olympic Stadium. Nobody believed that all tickets for the concert will sell out but the unbelievable happened. Two days before the concert, Eleven Concerts said “NO tickets left.”
Santana and his band arrived at the stadium with two Hammer type jeeps and went on stage at 09:30PM. Carlos himself “rose” in purple-orange tones with a Texas hat on. The fans were applauding all of his hits – Maria, Maria, Corazon Espinado, Put Your Lights On, and Smooth, dancing on Cuban, Mexican and classic rock rhythms. Santana’s concert is part of his world tour, with which he celebrates his 30th anniversary on the global rock scene and which is also dedicated to his newest album Supernatural. Part of the money from the Athenian concert will go to his Milagro foundation, which he founded together with his wife, for supporting third world children.
Santana’s concert was a premiere for his organizers – Eleven Concerts, which is anewly founded producing house, owned by Demis Nikolaidis – the famous Greek soccer player and husband of the Greek pop diva Despina Vandi. Eleven Concert’s next event is Alice Cooper’s concert in Limasson, Cyprus on July 12.
