In few days the famous actress Olympia Dukakis will arrive in Greece. She will offer an acting workshop and will participate in the filming of the movie "The Journey".
The seminars held by Mrs. Dukakis are organized by actress Mimi Denisi, who has also planned for the near future (between 25 January and 7 February) to bring other world celebrities, with whom young Greek actors will exchange career experience. The acting classes offered by Olympia Dukaki will be held at the Higher Institute of Dramatic Art – “Main stage”. The film, in which Olympia Dukakis will appear, is called “The Journey” and it is directed by Nadia Tassopulos (Tass), who is Australian of Greek origin. The film tells the lives of three women in two periods - 1940 and today. One woman arrives from Manhattan in the provincial Greek town of Xanthi and meets her aunt while trying to find the roots of an unknown woman who lived there in 1940. The shooting of the film will take place in Xanthi, Athens, Paris and New York, and Nadia hopes her film will tour movie theaters around the world.

Olympia Dukakis has participated in over 95 Hollywood productions and is known for the film "Working Girl" where she starred with Harrison Ford, Sigourney Weaver and Melanie Griffith and together won an Oscar. Some of the popular films, in which she starred, are the three comedy series with John Travolta "Look who’s talking” and Woody Allen's movie "Mighty Aphrodite."
Earlier, during the 1970 Olympia Dukakis plays in Greece in the movie "The Rehearsal" directed by Jules Dassin, starring Melina Mercouri and Mikis Theodorakis. Her family name is associated also with the President candidate of the United States in 1988, Michael Dukakis, who is her first cousin.
