With a 89-77 finished the game between the basketball teams of Olympiakos and Marousi, which took place on the SEF court in Athens. This evening the Red-White showed a game that not only delight Giannakis, but also the fans in the hall. With excellent defense and effective attack, they managed again to take the lead in the result and took their third consecutive victory over the team of Marousi. With the outcome of tonights game they proved that they are fully prepared for the game with their biggest opponent, the Panathinaikos team.
The hosts started the game strongly. They forced rhythm that did not allow the guests to repeat the scenario from the last meeting between the two teams. Since the very beginning thanks to the points scored by Beverley, Olympiakos took the lead with 13-5. Minutes after this the attack was joined by Schortsanitis and the difference in the result was 20-8. Marousi proceed to counterattack and won 5 points. However, the hosts did not remain bound and strengthened further the attacks. Marousi forces were no match for Olympiakos, the team had a clear problem with the defense. The hosts this evening were in full composition. After a two-week absence due to injuries on the field was Josh Childress.
During the second set the situation did not change. Olympiakos was the team who controlled the ball and the guests did not managed to block the well playing team. Marousi lost virtually any chance to lead or to equalize the score. Minutes before the end of the first half the white-red literally "flew" with 49-29. Then followed an attack of Pelekanos and a reduction of the difference to 39-55. This did not help Marousi to reverse the score. The hosts continued to play in a spirit of victory and tasted their future meeting with the team of Panathinaikos. After the attacks of Schortsanitis they led with 68-46 ...
Sure in their victory during the final set hosts eased off. Marousi used the chance and started to attack. They managed to narrow the difference to 12 points. The team, however, has not been strong enough to overtake the hosts ...
