With 69-53 for the white-reds finished the match between basketball teams Olympiakos and Marousi, played at the SEF court in Athens. The match was played as part of the A1 play-offs and brought the result of 1-0 from the semi-finals to Olympiakos. This was the first meeting of the team after its participation in Final Four of the Euroleague.
Tonight, white-red not played a complete set. Due to injuries absent last night were Vasilopoulos and Childress. However, the team is did not find it difficult to break through Marousi’s defence and attack the basket. Olympiacos started the game very dynamic. Teodosic and Schortsianitis were those who gave start of the match winning points and taking the lead with 11-5. It was difficult for the team of Marousi to find a way to the basket of the hosts, and whenever it did, suddenly a hand of a defender took the ball. So by the end of the first 10 minutes Olympiakos maintained a lead of 23-15.
Over the next 10 minutes the pace of the game dropped. Marousi managed to reduce the difference in the result. Greatest contribution to the turn of the game had Keys, who with great technical skills, made his way to the basket of the hosts. At the end of set Olympiakos finally managed to regain the lead. The set ended with 39-29. The strength of the hosts last night was in the hands of Papaloukas and Bourousis. They were the players who brought most points to the team. Strong attacks, which won points, were organized by Scooney Penn as well.
Marousi was not giving up. During the final set the team was fighting fiercely to reverse the result. However, the hosts kept the lead without a problem, which rarely fell below 10 points. During the third set they progressed further and brought the gap to 15 points, which ensured the desired end of the match. With this the hope of Marousi were finally exhausted. Thanks to the attacks of Papaloukas the white-reds brought to result to 69-53.
