More than half of Greeks would risk seeking a job abroad if they had such an opportunity. The main incentive for taking such a step is not the higher payment but the security in labour relations and the career opportunities.
These are the main conclusions for Greece from the international research of the labour market and mobility of people from country to country presented by the Greek newspaper "Ethnos". The research was conducted by the Boston Consulting Group in cooperation with the international network of websites for job search, The Network.
The data for Greece show that 55% of the participants would work in another country but this is lower than the average 64% in all countries where the research was conducted. The UK, Switzerland and the USA top the list of countries where Greeks want to work.
Interestingly, the good salary is the last on the list of incentives that is driving the Greeks to want to work abroad - the assessment of their skills, the economic stability, the interest in the subject of the work and the balance between personal and professional life being considered as more important.
