The basketball match between the teams of Armani Milan and Panathinaikos finished with the greens’ victory. The final minutes of the match were not easy for the Greeks, but they still managed to beat their Italian opponent and left the field in Milan, winning with 81-71. So, the team took the top position in its group.

The match started with a strong game by the visiting team. They entered the game in great mental shape and fully concentrated. They did not loose time and quickly targeted to the opponent’s basket. So, they controlled the ball from the very start and...conquered the field until the end of the third part. Their confidence on attack level was high. On defence level, however, Panathinaikos made some mistakes, which the home team used and soon ended up almost hand in hand in the outcome. Diamantidis put an end to the rivalry as his scores made the result at the end of the first game 25-21.

The defence mistakes Panathinaikos made in the first 10 minutes were not repeated in the next game. So, it was very difficult to Milan’s players to access to the basket. This fact combined with several failed shootings brought the result before the end of the second game to 36-26. The difference increased towards the end and reached 46-34.

After the break Armani’s players entered the field determined to win and to turn the outcome at all costs. And while Panathinaikos was the one to lead again the Italians managed to scare the visiting team. The side shots of Mancinelli made the difference 6 points. The hopes of the Italians to win on their field awoke again. Panathinaikos, however, reacted in time and stopped Milan. Tepić’s scores increased the difference again to the ‘guaranteed’ 10 points.

The greens made many mistakes at the end of the match. Their problem was not the opponent but their getting relaxed. The home team was only 3 points away from Panathinaikos during the 33rd minute and...the game started again. Fortunately, Diamantidis, Fotsis and Batiste got into their stride on the field and in combination with Perperoglou and Sato regained the position of their team. They strengthened their defence and through massive attacks again drifted away from the opponent. The difference in the result in the 37th minute was already 8 points. This time Milan did not find the strength to catch up with the visiting team. The three points Fotsis scored put the game to an end and made the result 81-71.
