Panathinaikos shocked by the loss from Copenhagen

The one who usually takes responsibility for the loss of a football team is the coach. It is obvious that Nikos Nioplias realizes that. He stressed before the Greek media that there would be no problem if he ought to leave the coach bench of the greens. However, he refused to talk about this hypothetically before it happens.

According to Nioplias, the players of Panathinaikos have not played bad to the 20th-25th minute. The game, however, stopped after the goal N’Doye scored and...it seemed that there was no match at all after it. The coach of the greens also stressed that not the number of the goals counts but who scored them and how. There were 16 goals scored to Panathinaikos during the last season, but the team had great defence at the same time. "We do not speak with figures in football" commented Nioplias.

He has self-criticized himself and he is troubled. Moreover, when there are many mistakes, he said. What about the desire to play? According to him, it is not measured by the number of fouls, but by the number of used chances to score. The main difficulty in his opinion is that, the team failed to build coherently after the World Cup Championship. There is a certain problem with the physical condition of the players, and they are not all at one level. In his words, this slows down the formation of the team.

Djibril Cisse, who failed to change the result himself, said after the match that he was not afraid to say that Panathinaikos is better than the champions of Denmark. “But we must wake up immediately for the match with Rubin Kazan.” This is another match that the team will play at home and a match that it will certainly need to win.

Gilberto Silva, who got a second yellow card and left the game, asked for apology: "I apologize to the fans and the team for leaving the match. This is not something that I usually do. We have to go back and forget this match... We have to find the power in ourselves again because some of us are tired. We must find a way to get back ..."

Alexis Tzorvas is also very sorry for his fatal performance too. He admitted that he assessed the situation incorrectly and left the door empty. The national player, however, is convinced that the greens can cope with the difficult situation like they did two years ago and that everything will depend on whether they can end up the next match with a good result.
