About 1,000 bank branches across Greece will open from tomorrow, Wednesday, for three consecutive days to serve those pensioners who do not have debit cards. This week they will be entitled to withdraw 120 euro in cash once only, according to a message of the Ministry of Finance.
Simultaneously, banks are obliged to immediately issue debit cards to pensioners to enable them to shop in retail shops that accept cards and to withdraw from ATMs the permitted 60 euro a day.
The list of bank branches that will open on Wednesday will be announced later today.
“Finally, the Ministry of Finance reminds all depositors that their euro deposits are, and will be, secure, both before and after the referendum. This referendum will allow citizens to decide whether they agree or disagree with the proposal of the Eurogroup to cut pensions once again, it is a referendum that the Eurogroup has unsuccessfully tried to make fail by refusing to further extend the bailout programme,” concludes the message of the Greek Ministry of Finance.
