In his new film Duress Sakis Rouvas changes his usual character and dives into the role of a serial murderer. The viewers on the Thessaloniki Film Festival watched the premiere of the film and witnessed Sakis’ metamorphosis. The movie is a dark low budget film, which cost only $1.7 million.

Sakis Rouvas did not hesitate to “ruin” his image and to play a dark and silent role, as an interview of the actor says in Ta Nea. During the dark scenes of the movie he looks like John Kasavetis in his older films and when you watch the film, you will be surprised, because you will not find even a trace of the modern and cool Sakis Rouvas.

In two weeks Sakis is starting his third film – comedy entitled “Dangerous Cooking,” where he will play along with his wife Katya Zouganeli. “I am very happy. I can barely hold myself. I just want to go and film it,” says he. Rumors have it that the idol will have the leading role in “Just in love” together with Dimitra Matzouka but for now nothing is known about the script of the film.

For now Sakis’ career is mainly connected to the Greek pop scene, including his two time participation in Eurovision as representative of Greece. For the last two years he has been hosting the reality show “X Factor,” which presents young and unknown musicians and singers.

“For 18 years I have been crazy about cinema. Eight years ago I was in LA as a student of Howard Fane, who is a great acting teacher. I was constantly travelling between the US and Greece. When I asked one great teacher what acting is, she answered: ‘it is as if you are piercing your stomach with razors and when you are covered in blood, you take them again and keep cutting’,” shares Sakis.

Right now Sakis is 38 years old and has participated in two films. His first one was “Alter Ego,” which was ruined by the movie critics and his second one is the promising low budget Hollywood production “Duress”. The premiere of the film is at the Thessaloniki Film Festival and on December 3 it will be in theaters.
