The salaries of the employees in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are formed on the basis of a general and special payroll table. The average salary of employees with higher education according to the general payroll table is 1,600.00 euro. However, the situation regarding the employees working in the Greek diplomatic missions abroad is quite different. The Ministry has announced the total salary costs instead of the average salaries. In one of the enterprises operating under the control of the Ministry, namely the Hellenic Institute of Byzantine and Post Byzantine Studies in Venice, the average monthly salary of the director is 7,161 euro, of the librarian, 2,640.00 euro, of the security guard, 1,450.00 euro and of the cleaning lady, 800.00 euro.
