With 0:2 finished the friendly football match between the teams of Greece and Senegal, who played on Pantesaliko Stadium in Volos. The match was played in preparation for the World Cup in South Africa (June 11, 2010-July 11, 2010) and it was good chance for the team of Greece "to verify its watch” and to play against a team, which reminds of Nigeria (with which Greece will meet in the championship), in terms of power and abilities. Moreover, the World Cup is less than 100 days ahead. Although difficult the meeting was interesting and provoked strong emotions among the gathered Greek and Senegalese fans at the stadium. The guests did not find the hosts in their best form - the team of Greece certainly had problems with defense, a fact that the guests did not miss.

So, during the first half the team of Senegal played more active and aggressive. Very good attempt for goal took place in the 28th minute by striker Nyang, who kicked the ball toward the door of the hosts, but the goalkeeper Dzorvas saved it. The attack of the guests 'woke up' the Greek team and it created a very good goal position, which unfortunately did not complete successfully. Haristeas passed the ball to Kapetanos, who he in turn passed it to Samaras, who failed to score a goal in Traore’s door. The first half ended with score 0:0.

The second half proved fatal for the hosts, since this was the time when guests were able to completely take control of the game and bring their attacks to a happy ending by scoring two goals. During the 71th minute Nyang masterfully scored a goal by giving the fans a very well played attack. The Senegalese striker managed to completely fool the hosts and take advantage of the Greek defense.

In addition to greatly played attack Senegal showed a very good defense which up to the end the hosts failed to break. Throughout the game the guests were countering all malicious attempts for attack and thus all the situations for goal created by the hosts ended in failure. During the 81th minute the Senegalese scored their second goal – the goal scored with a free-kick won by player N’Daw. During the 88th minute the guests made a third attempt to score a goal.

The friendly "warm up" between the teams of Greece and Senegal was proof that in order for Otto Rehhagel to make Greeks proud again (as he told reporters he would like to do) a lot of work needs to be done... Because if Greece wants to rank in the first 16, it will have to win against teams like Korea and Nigeria...

Greece (Otto Rehhagel): Dzorvas, (Halkyas), Kiryakos, Moras, (Makos), Spiropoulos, Vintra, Katsouranis, Karagounis, (Papadopoulos), Dziolis, Samaras, (Hristodoulopoulos), Haristeas, (Salpingidis), Kapetanos, (Gekas)

Senegal (Amana Traoré): N’Diaye, Faty, Tavares, Mangane, (Diakhaté), Drame, Gomis, (N’Daw), Tavares (Thioune), Kamara, (Sow), Dia, (Ba), Niang, (Diouf)
