The sirens of Nikos Perakis, this time on land

Thursday, June 2, night, Syntagma Square, just like every night lately, is full of people. The angry people are again ready for everything that might come. Just across the square at the restaurant of Public bookshop, from where the parliament can be seen, the director Nikos Perakis participated in his first official press conference for his latest film "Sirens of the land."

The director is seated in the middle, surrounded by the actors. His white hair stands out among Orfeas Avgoustidis, Vicky Kaya, Ioannis Papazisis, Razmi Soukouli, George Seytaridis, Jenny Teona and Yannis Tsimitselis. The atmosphere is civilized, but slightly awkward, as always when the reported shooting of a movie has not completed. Still, the atmosphere is not very nice, and the reasons are clear because the megaphones in Syntagma Square are rampant.

Laughter is something missing in our lives and "the angry people outside probably cannot laugh," says Perakis. "I feel lucky that even today, in these difficult circumstances, I keep working."

Nikos Perakis’ ability to recognize the vulnerabilities of Greek society and to recreate them in comedies have been known since the time of the movie "Loufa kai paralagi" (1984). The new film "Sirens of the land" is continuation of the super hit "Sirens in the Aegean" that 7 years ago broke the record for cash income in Greece.

"We thought that the world has changed since then and we wanted to see the characters again involved in a little hot episode (Imia) in equally hot atmosphere of our day." Therefore, one of the main places where the action takes place in the film is on the seventh floor of a building on Karageorgios Serviyas St. across from Public. There is the company "Art of Life" of Dr. Alexis Dzividzidis (Tsimitselis), who holds a diploma of education in life, self-knowledge and self-esteem and offers his services to politicians.

The story begins when one of his army friends Stavrakomatiakakis (Orfeas Avgoustidis), after the mysterious abduction of a 12-year-old Noor, an orphan from Pakistan, leavs Psiloritis and walking on her trails comes in the midst of the crisis in the capital, seeking help from Dzividzidis.

One after another in the story appear also the other characters from the previous film. Among them is the attorney of Vicky Kaya, who has left the office of her father and is now ... Deputy Minister of Privacy.

"I want to believe that this film will be a hearty injection", said actor Yannis Tsimitselis. "We do this work, first for a living, but also to spend our time well." For his part Orfeas Avgoustidis promises a film quite different from the previous of Nikos Perakis, calling it even "more dirty".

The film "Sirens of the land" will be filmed in different regions of Attica area, from the airport to Keramikos, Ilium and in the eastern region.

The movie will appear on the big screen during the next winter season. And while you wait for it, remember why we love Nikos Perakis and his favorite actors:
