The sprinter Angelos Angelakis qualified for the World championship in Doha

A pleasant surprise prepared for Greece the sprinter Angelos Angelakis who managed to achieve a score of 6,69 in the 60m run discipline during the 24th Championship of the country in track and field athletics for men and women, which was held this Saturday and Sunday (February 27-28) in Athens. With the result he achieved the athlete managed to qualify for the world championship in Doha and in this way the Greek delegation for Qatar increased by one more person. The other six athletes who reached the minimum required score in order to qualify for Doha are – Filipidis, Skafida,Tsiamis, Stamatoyannis, Pera and Kririakopoulou, who achieved great results in the first day of the competition. The athlete in pole-jump managed to score 4.20m, 4.30m and 4.40m in her first attempts. With such a successful start she dared to try to score a record for the country and placed the bar at a height of 4,54m. Her jump however was unsuccessful. During the first day of the championship there was also a surprise in the hop-step and jump discipline where Dinmitris Diamandaris won the first place with a score of 7.89m. Diamandtidis achieved this result in his last attempt and like this put the end to the struggles for the first place…In the discipline 400m running the first place was taken by the athlete Yannis Stamatopoulos who achieved a result of 48.41. A record for Greece in high jump tried to score Andonis Mastoras with his attempt to jump 2.28m (the minimum height in order to qualify for Doha). His attempt unfortunately was unsuccessful and so the athlete remained with a score of 2,21m. At the 1.500m running the first place won the athlete Maria Panu with a score of 4.31.65. After her came Anastasia Karakatsani with 4.33.11 and Irini Kokinariou with 4.38.94. In the men category at the fist place came Andreas Dimitrakis with a score of 3.55.90, at the second is Yannis Psaros with 3.57.69 and at the third is Teodoros Anagnostou with a resultof 3.59.64. In the discipline 60m running first place was taken by Anastasia Andriopoulou with a result of 7.64, second is Aremisia Konstantinou with 7.75 and third is Margarita Tsiutsiumanou with 7,86. In the long jump the first place was taken by Evangelia Galeni with a result of 6.10m, at the second place qualified Olga Christoforidou with a result of 6m and at the third place is Anastasia Anastasia Futsitsidou with 5,97m. In the discipline putting the shot the first place was taken by Chrisi Moisidou with 15.11m, the second place was for Florentia Kapa with 14.29 and the third is for Fotini Kiriakidou with a result of 13.44m. In the championship of Greece this year took part a total of 450 athletes men and women and more than 100 sports clubs.
