Greek police authorities are considering all possible scenarios in connection with the disappearance of 4-year-old Ani Borisova on 21 April in the centre of Athens.

The conflicting testimony of the child's mother on where and when her daughter disappeared has raised doubts. The woman said she had left Ani with a friend of hers for her to take care of the child while she was in Bulgaria for several days. When she returned, her friend told her she had taken Ani to a party in the area of Omonia Square where she had lost the girl.

The mother's words make it clear that she knew the woman to whom she had entrusted her 4-year-old child for a short time. In addition, she told the police that she knew only her first name.

GRReporter contacted the president of child protection organization "The Smile of the Child" that has announced an Amber Alert to search for Ani. "The case is very confused and there are concerns that the disappearance of the child may be associated with dubious actions. The Bulgarian Embassy in Athens should also take action and participate in the investigation to find Ani as quickly as possible," said Kostas Giannopoulos.

"The work of our organization is to find the child and that of the police to investigate the circumstances of her disappearance. It is embarrassing that few calls have been made in relation to Ani. All institutions in Greece and abroad must take action," he added.

"So far we have not been officially informed of the case by anyone, including the child's mother. Today are beginning to collect information from the prosecutor’s office and the social services that are involved in the search," Consul of Bulgaria in Athens Lubomir Georgiev told GRReporter.

"The Smile of the Child" appeals to all citizens who have information about Ani Borisova to call the European hotline for missing children 116000 that operates 24 hours a day or any police station in Greece.
