In an attempt to put an end to beach parties, the Greek finance ministry banned the occupation of public beach areas and the installation of sound systems in them.

According to a ministerial decision from May, beaches can only be used  by owners of beach bars, caravans offering sandwiches and drinks, companies renting out boats, etc.

The same decision categorically prohibits music parties on the waterfront as well as on the shores of lakes and rivers. Its makers acknowledge that nabbing offenders would be difficult, and therefore call upon municipal authorities to collect evidence every time they get wind of such an event.
