Taipei tennis player is a double winner at Status Athens Open 2010

Yen-Hsun Lu is the name of the winner of men's tennis tournament Status Athens Open 2010. The promising player from Taipei won the tournament individually and in pairs with South African tennis player Rick De Voest. In the finals they won against the Dutch pair Robin Haasae and Igor Sijsling 6-3 and 6-4 in a match that lasted for 59 minutes. Besides first place in Athens, the victory brought Lu €14 875. €12 250 he won from the individual tournament and €5250 he will share with his partner from the game in pairs. The dream of Lu, as he states is to become the first Chinese to entere the top 10 in the world. 

Although they failed to qualify for the first place, Dutch Robin Haasae and Igor Sijsling did not despair. With a smile on their faced during the ceremony, they said that next year they will be here again... 

The Greek tennis players did not qualify for the finals of the Status Athens Open 2010. However success was marked by Konstantinos Ikonomidis, who won the first round against Frenchman Nicolas Mahut 6(3)-7, 7-5, 7-6(3). In the second round Ikonomidis lost against the finalist Rainel Schuettler, Germany, with 4-6, 2-6. Alexandros Yakupovich dropped in first round by losing against the winner Yen-Hsun Lu by 2-6, 1-6. Nikos Rovas lost during the classifications with 5-7, 5-7 by Slovakian Andrej Martin. Paris Gemuhidis, who played with a wild card in the qualifying rounds, won against Alexandris Georgoudas, German from Greek origin, with 6-4, 6-3, but subsequently fell lost against South African Rick De Voest by 1-6, 3-6. Another competitor who participates in the tennis tournament with a wild card was Dimitrios Loukareas. Loukareas lost in the classification round from fellow Haralambos Kapoyanis, who also had a wild card, with 2-6, 1-6. A little later Kapoyanis lost against Slovakian Miloslav Mecir. Nikos Serkedakis lost against Simon Stadler with 1-6, 2-6, and Michael Anastasios Psaros lost agaisnt Italian Luca Vanni with 2-6, 0-6. Konstantinos Mikos lost to Germany's Denis Gremalmayr with 3-6, 2-6, and after him Aristotelis Muratoglou lost against Austrian Samuel Groth with 1-6, 3-6. 

Bulgarian Valentin Dimov won during the classification round against Finland's Sami Huurinainen with 6-2, 6-3. In the next match, however, he fell from Slovakian Andrej Martin by 2-6, 2-3. 

Status Athens Open 2010 takes place for the third time in the Greek capital. This is the biggest tennis event in the country after the Olympics in 2004. This year present at the tournament were more than 3000 people.
