Despite the proposal of the prosecutor the attendees’ data to be recorded the chairwoman of the judicial council Varela ruled entrance only by showing an identity card. "All who want will enter until the seats are full. I will not let you standing there," she said, adding that she will provide technical equipment for recording. However, she did not order civilian police officers to leave the room. This decision made lawyers and the audience to respond and the present shouted slogans against the police.

The judge told two girls to sit down and stressed they have to respect the trial. Some of the defendants responded to her "you yourself have no respect for the process and do you expect this from us?"

"Really? Then sue in an empty room," cried Harris Hadzimihelakis and the trial was interrupted in order the people to calm down. During this time, some associates of the accused attacked verbally plainclothes police officers seated next to them. There were tensions when the police officers handcuffed some of the defendants to take them out of the room.

After the next break the chairwoman of the judicial council announced her decision for keeping the ID cards of those present at the entrance and giving them to their owners when they leave although she initially ruled against the measure.

The request for recording the minutes of the trial had the same fate because it was impossible to record it according to the Judge.

The defendants left the room enraged by this turn of the case. At that time their friends and family shouted slogans "SS cops, judges" and "passion for freedom is stronger than all the cells."

The defenders asked for a break in the proceedings which will continue on January 24. Outside the prison police officers surrounded a group of about 50 anarchists who had come to show their solidarity to the defendants. They had a black poster saying "The state and capital are the only terrorists."
