In our latest poll we asked you, "Do you think there a humanitarian crisis in Greece as stated by the government of SYRIZA?" As always, the results are interesting and indicative of the attitude of the readers of our three-language versions.
Readers of the Bulgarian page of GRReporter seem to be most adamant in their opinion. Half of them, 50%, state that there is a humanitarian crisis in Africa and talking about such in Greece is profane. The reason for this firm position can be found in the fact that Bulgaria is lagging behind Greece in terms of living standard and from this perspective, the statement about a humanitarian crisis is not justified. On the other hand, 19% support the option that, with 1.5 million unemployed, there certainly is a crisis. 16% of readers prefer the idea that there is a humanitarian crisis but only according to the populists of SYRIZA who thus repay for the vote they have received. 15% believe that many people are in difficulty but that does not mean there is a humanitarian crisis.
The reply that 1.5 million unemployed people in Greece are sufficient grounds for declaring a humanitarian crisis is the preference of the highest number of respondents on the English page of the site as it collects 35% of readers’ vote. The option according to which many people are in difficulty but this is not grounds for declaring such a crisis ranks second with 32% of the vote. The third most popular response is also close to the first two options in terms of percentages as 29% of our readers argue that we can speak of a humanitarian crisis only in the countries and regions in Africa, but not in Greece. Only 3% are of the opinion that such statements come from the populist circles in SYRIZA and they do not meet the expectations of the voters who supported the party in the last elections.
The vote of Greek readers is interesting as well. According to 45%, 1.5 million unemployed are sufficient grounds for declaring a humanitarian crisis. At the same time, 35% believe there are many people who are in difficulty but that does not mean there is such a crisis. 20% of readers support the thesis that there are humanitarian crises in Africa and we cannot speak of such in Greece. The option that talks of a humanitarian crisis are the result of the populist behaviour of SYRIZA did not receive a single vote.
Although the results in the three language versions of GRReporter are diverse, the conclusion is that the majority of readers do not find grounds for declaring a humanitarian crisis. This perception is more explicit among Bulgarian readers whereas some of the English- and Greek-speaking readers are more prone to associate their attitude to the economic and social situation of Greece with the announcement of a humanitarian crisis. A large group of respondents define the situation as serious, but not as a humanitarian crisis.
Do not forget to participate in our latest poll, in which we ask you, "How far do you think the conflict between Greece and Germany will go?" and to state the grounds for your response by posting your comment bellow it.
