Winter collections and promotional offers for the summer period will be offered in shopping malls at discounted prices: this is part of the interim discounts which will begin on Friday, 2 May and end on Saturday, 10 May.

As provided by the law for the first Sunday of the period of discounts of all stores, regardless of their size and ownership, stores will be allowed to open on Sunday, 4 May. The opening hours for Sunday are from 11 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Athens Trading Corporation has suggested that stores should open at 12:00 especially this Sunday, since the 3rd Half Marathon of Athens will be held from 8 a.m. to 11:10. Furthermore, the Corporation has suggested that stores should work until 6:00 p.m., but big shopping centres and supermarket chains are expected not to comply with this, and they will prefer to work according to the opening hours provided by the law.

On the subject of Sunday opening hours, Deputy Minister of Development Athanasios Skordas said that the success of Sunday opening hours will be confirmed next Sunday.

He added: "I believe that during the first Sunday of the period of discounts shop owners will see an opportunity to strengthen their ties with customers through offers of quality products at affordable prices. The commercial world, after the pressure it experienced in the difficult years of the crisis, confirms its role as an important indicator of the development and progress of the Greek economy. Sunday, 4 May will be yet another proof of that."
