The department for combating electronic crime of the Greek police is on the trail of 300 Greek university candidates. It seems that the students will have to give up on their ambition to go to university, because they chose the easy path of cheating on the “Principles of Organization and Management of Enterprises” exam, which took place in the examination center in the metropolitan district of Galatsi.

The fraud, which was led by a 45-year-old owner of a private training center, who denied any involvement, was revealed by one of the students. He went to the bathroom and read the correct answers, which were sent to his mobile by the owner of the training center. The student was denied the right to participate in exams and his test was canceled, but as it became clear he was not the only cheater.

Police confiscated the mobile phones of a total of 300 students and will investigate after receiving a warrant from the prosecutor.

According to first reports from the police, at 10:04 – one hour after the announcement of the exam topics the student asked to go to the restroom. When he returned to the classroom one of the teachers noticed that he had some kind of object in his pocket. The teacher took the phone and found in one of the incoming messages found the answers to the first exam topic, which was in a form of a test.

When he asked the student who sent those answers, he replied that they are from the private training center, which he was going to. Immediately afterwards, the principal of the school, conducting the exams, contacted the department for combating electronic crime of the Greek police and informed them about the case.

The District Prosecutor Eleni Raikou issued a warrant to conduct a preliminary investigation to establish the existence of an illegal act. Officials of the specialized police unit are already conducting an investigation in the building of the training center, where the list of students training there was discovered, among which is also the “caught” cheater. The police also seized a hard drive, computers and records from the training center.

In connection with the arisen doubt that the exam topics “leaked” from the Ministry of Education, the department for combating electronic crime reported that this did not happen, because anyway the exam topics were posted on the website of the Ministry at 09:30. Such was the comment and the Deputy Minister of Education Yannis Panaretos.
