There is hardly a person on earth who does not know how to flirt. We are born fully equipped for this activity - flirting. I hope it will not sound too offensive, but our ability to flirt is not the result of reason. It's an instinct we equally possess along with all other species. We do not differ in anything from a couple of swans, wolves or dogs. We just have a little more sophisticated and more "human" means unique to us.    

In today's article I will introduce this interesting, for everyone, topic - flirting. In humans some flirting signals are learnt intentionally and are executed fully consciously. But most of these signals, the most important and decisive ones, come completely unconsciously and instinctively by themselves. They are innate, genetically set in us, derived from our innate imperative for reproduction and maintenance of mankind. When a person finds himself in the company of the opposite sex – a potential partner for reproduction - a number of physiological changes come to the surface, which prepare the body for sexual expression, which is called flirting. The purpose of flirting is to make ourselves attractive and to be able to attract others.    

Nature has endowed women with a much larger palette of flirting gestures and signals, it has endowed them with much more subtlety and skill to do so. This is because for women their life partner takes priority in their lives. For them, partnership or marriage, is the most easily accessible way of realizing themselves in society as individuals. While marriage for men is not a means for realization, but rather it is required in order to have a place to receive home care, emotional comfort, relaxation, pleasure, and of course to create a new generation.    

I guess most people believe that men flirt more often than women for the simple reason that infidelity is more common to them. But actually it is quite the opposite. The woman is made in order to bring harmony, comfort, beauty, joy and pleasure in the life of a man. In order to be able to provide the above to her husband, a woman is endowed by nature with beauty, finesse and ability to flirt with her every move and glance.    

But let me return back to the question of who, how and how much is given away to flirting. Venus in the horoscope is related to the priority of human desires. It is love. It is a pleasure. It shows what attracts us, the means and methods by which we try to find and get the satisfaction of these desires. Flirting, as noted above, is our most deeply rooted way to attract attention, to satisfy our desire for intimacy, love and sex.    

The position of Venus in our horoscope is indicative of our flirting "mode" and answers the following questions. What tricks and techniques do we use to attract someone? What strategy do we undertake? Which lines make us  “bite” like a fish? How often do we need to turn this "mode" on?

When analyzing this astrological issue the sign of the ascendant is taken into consideration, because whatever we do with other people, it filters through this specific sign. I will give a description of Venus in the various signs, but if you know the sign of your ascendant, read this information too.    

The twelve signs in the zodiac are divided into the so-called elements - fire, earth, air and water. These elements set a general type and all signs belonging to the same element are similar in temperament.

The signs Aries, Leo and Sagittarius represent the fire element.

The signs Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn - Earth element.

The signs Gemini, Libra and Aquarius - air element.

The signs Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces - water element.    

The fire and air signs are always striving to ostentation and expression, they project a lot of vitality and are very active in flirting. They seek to develop and penetrate into the space in order to rise and affect as many people as possible. Earth and water signs are turned inwards. They do not seek to be panache and are passive in flirting. They look for the familiar, something on which they can focus.    

Based on those fundamental characteristics the people who are most easily and highly prone to flirting are people in whose horoscope Venus is in the signs Gemini and Sagittarius. They just need space to expand and are in constant movement. And this cannot happen with only one person. However, the people who have the least need to flirt are those in whose horoscope, Venus is in the signs of Taurus and Scorpio. They need a long time before starting to flirt and when they stop somewhere where they feel secure and stable, they can remain there forever.    

So far I have given you very broad and general characteristics.

Now I will describe each sign individually. I emphasize greatly that Venus in the individual horoscope has different shades - whether it rises before or after the Sun, what aspects it receives from other planets, in which part of the horoscope it is located, how it is related to the ascendant. This is why you will find a difference between people, who have Venus in the same sign.

In Aries Venus is energetic, bold and direct. If there is a sign that greatly dislikes flirting in the form of jokes, looks, lying and cheating - it's Venus in Aries. They do it as well, but if so it is not for more than 5 minutes. Their style includes situations of competition and challenge. They will offer you to compete in a race, to play something or to have a great argument. This is their signal. Flirting with them is common because it is a source of struggle in which they need to prove to be winners - something that attracts them heavily.

In Taurus Venus is very, very slow. As I stated above, for this sign flirting runs very slowly. They rarely flirt, and if they do it, it is only if they are sure it will lead to a serious commitment. A one-night flirt for them is something unacceptable. Their style is very simple and it is based on the principle of "Seeing is believing". There is almost a tangible expression in the form of gifts, dinners, flowers. They love to touch. Their signals are actually visible as they seek to stimulate your physical senses. As difficult as it is for them to start a flirt, it is just as hardfor them to let go of it. They are sincere and very straightforward.    

In Gemini, Venus is the most flexible and mobile, compared to other signs. This sign is the champion of the zodiac. Flirting for them is an incentive for their intellect and the only possible way of communication. Their style is strictly verbal and it includes all communication ways - letters, conversations, phones, any intellectual games, jokes, playing tricks, etc. The interesting thing with these people is that they flirt for the sake of communication and they rarely take the next step. If they start talking too much and moving their hands, this is an indication that they are flirting with someone nearby.    

In Cancer Venus is flirting with extreme caution. These people use a very fine flirting strategy, which at times includes specific adroit situations. They do not dare to flirt just for the sake of flirting right here and right now. Everything is complying with their long-term plan - looking for care, protection and security. Romantic moments are plentiful. A food is worshipped. If a representative of this combination – Venus in Cancer – offers you food or invites you to their home, then this means he/she is flirting with you very seriously. And this is just the beginning. Their style is care giving, "nutrition" in every way - in the direct sense of the word, and emotionally. They do not like to speak a lot, they keep silent. But they compensate with emotional intimacy and great care.  

In Leo Venus flirts on a big scale and in abundance. I do not mean the quantity but the quality of flirts. They are very romantic just like in the movies - with huge bouquets of flowers, music, champagne, poetry. These people flirt only when they come across a special someone. They do it with an enviable persistence and are very demonstrative. Their signals are direct, because they do not want to waste their time on making things harder for you. The strategy is typically Napoleonic – generous - until they have fully taken your breath away. After that they begin looking for another conquest. This is why these people love flirting.   

In Virgo Venus flirts in a terribly practical manner. In fact these people do it because they are told this is the way it is done. If there are people who flirt and seduce in a fully conscious way, and apply the best "flirting lessons", they are those with Venus in this sign. Their strategy is the clearest one. They always know how much, how and until where they want to reach. The signals they give out are exactly measured. They are not intrusive, but are clear and simple. People with Venus in this sign are the best geishas or male gigolos. The frequency of flirting depends on whether they want to get something from someone.   

In Libra Venus loves to flirt, because flirting is a way to enjoy communicating with others, to feel the pleasure of the most beautiful side of life - romance and love. These people flirt in a very graceful manner, with finesse, trying to satisfy the other. For them, intimacy is something very important in life, this is why they try to keep flirting even during a long-term partnership. But this does not prevent them from flirting outside of a relationship as well. Thus, they always keep themselves in shape for the most important person in their life.   

In Scorpio Venus rarely flirts. This person never wastes his time unless he is confronted by a person, who can take him to the dark and dangerous side. The flirt by itself is easy and enjoyable. And these people are throwing themselves at the complex and difficult things, they like walking along the edge. This is why they do not like flirting unless it brings a risk. In fact, they will flirt only if they are involved in something forbidden or if they see something serious about the person in front of them. Their style is not flashy. It is very intense and stormy, but hidden. And usually only the one for whom it is intended, knows that there is flirting going on.

Venus in Sagittarius flirts at will, all the way to oblivion. This is the second sign after Gemini, which lives by flirting. For this sign in order to communicate with others, this means that you have to flirt with them. These people use flirting in order to have fun, laugh and enjoy the people around them. However, they often suffer from this manner of communication, because people misunderstand it and think they are showing serious interest. And they are just being friendly and enjoy communicating. Flirting rarely ends with something more.    

Venus in Capricorn is very restrained. Flirting, if any at all, is very reserved and within the lines of " first and foremost reputation”. These people proceed to flirting only when it precedes a serious relationship. Their style is classic, mature and committing to the other. It mainly includes material terms - standard and appropriate for every occasion: flowers, gifts, dinners. They would not allow themselves to flirt unless the goal is to achieve a long-term relationship with the help of flirtation.    

Venus in Aquarius is very peculiar. This sign is too individualistic and therefore by nature it rejects everything common. This includes flirting as part of communication. These people’s flirting style does not follow the rules. They flirt in an unusual way, they start it like thunder and it is not necessarily for it to be a prelude to something more. To some extent it can be said that they use flirting when they are looking to get something out of it.    

Venus in Pisces is mysterious and elusive. These people do not flirt openly. Their style is almost imaginary - you never know if they are flirting with you or this is just the way they are. Expression and signals are completely non-verbal as this suggests a convenient "exit" from unwanted situations or when they have received everything they have desired. Like Venus in Virgo, Pisces can become very skillful geishas or male gigolos.
