The team of Olympiakos started the new stage of the top 16 of the Euro league with a victory. The white and red team won against its Spanish opponent Caja Laboral by 89:85 and like this they gave their coach Panagiotis Giannakis. The victory at the opponent’s field in the very beginning of the round is definitely a good sign for the condition of the team and is at the same time a wonderful start for the further fight. In the biggest part of the time the white and red team showed a wonderful, dynamic and well planned game. In the beginning of the game they attacked very often the opponent’s basket and in this way since the very beginning of the game they managed to take the lead. The hosts answered to the attack of the guests with a contra attack and managed to even the score and even take the lead afterwards. There were several critical moments in the game, turning points for both sides, when the lead in the points was passing from the side of the hosts to the side of the guests.
On the part of the host most active in the attacks against the white and red team was Mirza Teletovic. Even he however could not influence the destiny of Olympiakos whic was definitely in the hands of the players Childress, Kleiza and Milos. They were the ones who had the final word in the end score of the game. Traditionally Childress did not forget to show high technical level, combined with a great doze of creativity while scoring his points. The player who is really a pleasure to watch always as well as in this game managed to influence in a wonderful way the atmosphere and the spirit of the team. The second half started with an extremely strong attack on the part of Caja Laboral. For a very short time the hosts managed to score 8 points and the result became 47:45. This, however wasn’t at all the end of their attacks and they were getting greater lead in the score. The offensive of the hosts stopped Skuni Pen, who managed to even the score to 63:63. The battle between the two teams lasted until the end. The game had several dramatic moments – the attacks of the both sides were constantly taking turns. The credit for the final score had Mawrokefalides, who managed to score the final points and of course Childress.
