No later than 3 months, the team who worked for many years for the creation of a prototype, which is currently called "Korres Project 4", after the name of its creator, will complete its work that looks amazing for two reasons: the first is because this car can reach more inaccessible places than any other car and the second reason is because the work is carried out in Greece - where there is no base and history in this type of production.
"It all started as a hobby many years ago, at the beginning of the past decade," said Manos Vordonarakis, a specialist in special design and team member. "It's one of those bets that you make with yourself." This is the bet which Dimitris Korres, better known as an architect, made with himself. "The goal was to create a car with the accuracy of a Mini Coοper on the road and the stability of a Decevo on soil." Prototype № 1 was a mix of patents, but it also had many weaknesses. It attracted the attention of the Greek company MEVAKO, which proposed to put the car in production and a new improved model was completed with its aid in 2004, which, however, could not go into production.
"For his own reasons Korres did not stop. He borrowed money and started the third prototype, which we thought would go into production." But it was not finished because there were problems. "Thus, work on the fourth prototype began which was improved. With each new model, the car’s capacity was increased and from 1,000 cc at first, it is now 7,000 cc. "We understand that we cannot build a cheap car. It may sound like an oxymoron, but this requires a huge infrastructure that only a large company can have."
The main innovation is the suspension, which prevents the wheel rims from lifting off the ground. Thus, the car climbs through unbelievable obstacles without disturbing the driver or passengers. Moreover, the special gearbox allows for different ways of driving in different environments, and in this way provides a choice of driving quickly and with the same tires, for a great climbing of stairs or rocks. And all this is offered by a car weighing 1.6 tonnes with a maximum speed of 300 km/h and acceleration to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. "The car is a beast, but the sense of security and stability is unique," said Vordonarakis.
Every time a model is finished, it is presented in a video at an exhibition abroad. And its qualities do not go unnoticed. "Ever since the second model, there has been a proposal by a military company in Abu Dhabi for its production there as a military vehicle. The second serious offer also came from a company of the military industry. But it was not something that interested the members of the team. "The team continued and finished "Korres Project 4" in Greece and will present it. But when it is launched, it will not be suitable for every pocket - the price can reach 250,000 euro.
