Bottles with gas and four tin plates full with explosions found the police in the second hideaway at Andoniadou str. in the Karea neighborhood. In the apartment were found a total of 180kg ammonia dynamite. The police say that the bombs were ready and the only the triggering mechanism was missing in order for them to be used in a terrorist attack, in which the bombs most probably were going to be placed in a car.
The apartment, which the police found yesterday, was rented by Konstantinos Gurnas, but under the name of inexisting person. In the hideaway car which was found two days ago there were to ID cards with false names and a picture of an unknown person who looked like Gurnas. The ID cards with false information were also used for renting of other apartments, which were used by the terrorists.
In the apartment in Karea the police officers found also three stolen motorcycles with double license plates, which trunks were full with other false license plates. The version of the police is that those motorcycles were used in terrorist attacks and were hidden after that. Until now none of the vehicles or motorcycles which the terrorists used to escape from the crime scenes were found and this is why the antiterrorist services worked on the version that most probably the terrorists were using garages to hide them.
After the murder of Lambros Fundas the case started to get clearer and the police found the traces of the “six”. From then on the special police services follow them 24/7, and the cause for their arrest last week is that they are traced trough their phones to talk between them for participating in terrorist organization, and confirmed that they were preparing a big hit against the police office in the center of Athens. The minister of defense of the citizens Mihalis Hrisohoidis and the police officers from the antiterrorist services decided to catch the suspects before they can execute their plans.
The first one arrested is Evangelos Statopulos in his house after he returns from practice. The police officers call him among them the Buda, because he doesn’t much talk. On the next day Nikos Maziotis and his wife Panayots Roupa are caught while they eat in the Everest fast food restaurant. They go with their car towards their apartment in Kaliviya, manage to escape the police and leave their car near the metro station and go to the center of Athens. From street phone Maziotis calls the Buda in order for him to see where he is and that is how the police manage to track him in the telephone booth. After they block the region the police catch Maziotis and his wife. Up to Saturday morning four out of the six are caught and by Sunday all six are caught. According to the police founding in the secret places the members of the terrorist organization were very well informed. There is also a long list with names of possible victims among which is the name of the Prime Minister Georgios Papandreou!
From the phone talks among the members of the terrorist organization is found that there are two more persons – the so called “OK”, because very often is used “ok” in the conversations and the other is “the small one”, that is how he e is called by the others and most probably he is a relative to someone from the already arrested.
